CSI/SPECO CVC-745TP Color Vandal-resistant Dome Camera with Fixed Lens Review

Our 1/4" color CCD vandal resistant dome has a 3. 6mm fixed lens and an ultra high impact dome cover. It is ideal for indoor, as well as outdoor environments. It features a 1. 0 lux with 350 line resolution. A mount is included for ceiling or wall placement. A B/W version of this camera is available and can be found under model number CVC-385TP. A varifocal lens version of this camera is also available, and can be found under model numbers CVC-7405P (Color) and CVC-3805TP (B/W).
The CSI/SPECO CVC-745TP Color Vandal-resistant Dome Camera with Fixed Lens is a simple and effective video surveillance camera for more high-risk and exposed areas. Designed with the potential of vandalism and harsh weather in mind, the CVC-745TP camera is housed in a dome constructed of an all-black, high-impact dome cover and heavy-duty metal base. This camera not only provides high-quality images at high-resolutions with excellent light sensitivity, but does so in a weather-proof and extremely tamper-resistant fashion. Easy to install, the CVC-745TP is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, and is ideal for secure surveillance at home or a small business where it is exposed to the elements, as well as in potentially hostile environments such as prisons, security entrances or restricted areas.
This camera utilizes a 0.25-inch color CCD (charge-coupled device) sensor, with a resolution of 512-by-492 pixels or 350 TVL (TV lines). The CVC-745TP includes a 3.6mm fixed lens that allows this camera to receive a picture down to a minimum illumination of one Lux, and has a better-than 48 dB S/N (signal to noise) ratio. The unit's electronic shutter with an exposure time ranging from 1/60 to 1/100,000 of a second helps ensure an even higher picture quality. Powered via a 12-volt external DC power supply (included), it can operate in temperatures from -14 to 122-degrees Fahrenheit.
Technical Features:
- Sensitivity: down to 1 Lux
- S/N ratio: more than 48 dB
- Resolution: up to 512 by 492 pixels or 350 TVL
- Operating temperature: -14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit
- Dimensions: approximately 5 x 3.5 x 5 inches (W x D x H)
About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
About Dome Cameras
A dome camera is one of the most common indoor security camera styles. Mounted on the ceiling, and often built to be tamper-resistant, dome cameras are designed to be visually appealing and more secure than other types of security cameras. A true dome camera enables a continuous 360-degree pan and 90-degree tilt operation, providing for extensive room coverage. One disadvantage of dome cameras is that they usually are not suitable for low-light conditions and must be used in well-lit areas.
